Opis

Set in 17th-century Puritan Massachusetts, the story follows Hester Prynne, a woman who is publicly shamed for committing adultery. She is forced to wear a scarlet letter "A" on her chest as a symbol of her sin. Throughout the story, Hester faces public scorn but continues to live with dignity. The narrative also focuses on the emotional and psychological turmoil of Arthur Dimmesdale, the town's minister, who is secretly the father of Hester's child. Roger Chillingworth, Hester's estranged husband, arrives in the town and seeks revenge on Dimmesdale, adding further complexity to the relationships between the characters.
