Opis

Maximum Growth and Vigour [VINYL]Opis:This is the second release by SMF Records 180g heavy black pure virgin vinyl. Snazzy Risograph printed inserts. Download code cards included. LP/DL - 250 pressing. The perennial openers return! Here's the Hipshakes third long player, and second in mediumfidelity: Maximum Growth and Vigour. Always masters of intros and most other bits of song, this time they've paid particular attention to outros: notable recent inspiration can be found on Thomas Function's Peanut Butter and Paranoia Jam and Tommy by Sex Hands. Andrew Hipshake lost his bass-fingers so has shifted to guitar and Ben Hipshake is now on the fourstringer, which means extra noise and more power-pop semi-competence than ever achieved before. Banger after banger on this record deal with the issues of the day: having no money, no emotional intelligence and no recognisable talent. Former teen sensations from small market town, civil parish, capital of the Peak District and home of the Pudding - Bakewell - The Hipshakes have been friends since before they can remember. They bought instruments at 15 and have been playing together ever since. Early efforts were snotty-nosed and short, brilliant and bratty. With advancing years their noses may have dried up but the hits haven't. Formed in 2001, their first slew of records and tours of Europe and America were unleashed between 2005 and 2008, calling in at South By Southwest and Gonerfest. 2014 unbelievably saw them tour the UK for the first time. On this record, they are a classic four piece combo of guitars, drums and bass: everyone writes songs and everyone sings them. Live, they are a ferociously exhilarating, mega-mondo smash-hit pop-fountain. They've shared the stage with the cream of the garage punk crop of the last ten years. The band are fans of the Swell Maps, Wire, Black Lips, Wreckless Eric, Soft Boys, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Love Triangle, Jay Reatard, Red Cords, Kinks, Nerves, MC5 and Fuzz, so if you can dig those bands you might like the Hipshakes too. The Hipshakes here are: Andrew Anderson - Guitar, Vocals Benjamin Russell - Bass, Vocals Daniel Russell - Guitar, Vocals, Bruce Sargent - Drums, Vocals. Recorded by MJ at Suburban Home, Leeds, over 3 days in September 2013. Mixed by MJ with the band.
