A Proper Introduction To Sarah Vaughan: Shulie A Bop

Opis

A Proper Introduction to Sarah Vaughan: Shulie a BopOpis:Possessed of one of the most wondrous voices of the 20th century, Sarah Vaughan ranked with Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday in the very top echelon of female jazz singers. This Proper Introduction covers the period when she was emerging as a solo artist, marrying her vocal skill to the harmonic and melodic complexity of Bebop with consummate ease. Defining the role of the jazz singer anew, Vaughan was perfectly at home with ballads or uptempo material and most at home in the company of great musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Clifford Brown, Oscar Peterson and the many others who are represented on this compilation.
