Operencia The Stolen Sun is a first-person role-playing game developed and published by Zen Studios, a Hungarian developer, known for their Pinball game series. In Operencia, the developers wanted to recreate the feeling of Hungarian folklore, at the same time paying homage to classic FPP RPG dungeon-crawlers, such as Bard’s Tale, Wizardry and Might & Magic. Operencia’s main features are beautiful design based on old folk tales, puzzle and exploration focused gameplay, memorable characters, and more. GameplayThe gameplay of Operencia: The Stolen Sun harkens back to the classic dungeon-crawlers, where the player would observe the action from the first person perspective. Zen Studios’ game brings back the mechanics of these games and refurbishes them to match the standards of 21st-century player. The game is presented in beautiful 2D, with hand-drawn animated cutscenes and character portraits adding to the fairytale atmosphere.

In the game, the player controls one of 7 characters. These characters can be switched between at any moment of the game and are fully upgradeable. The characters possess unique skills and special attacks, which they execute in turn-based combat. Another important aspect of the game is the exploration of the environment, with the Cartographer mode allowing the player to chart the dungeons on their own.

StoryIn a distant land of Operencia, the forces of evil have abducted the Sun King Napkirály. Without this protection, the land soon became engulfed in everlasting darkness. When all hope seemed lost, 7 heroes appeared, vowing to rescue the king and bring the sun back to Operencia.
