But that s good, because you need a contrast. The Finzi is very countryside, while the Copland is more inner-city, and full of Latin American themes. About the ArtistOn 17 May 2010, clarinettist Sarah Williamson, BBC Young Musician Competition Finalist 2002, will release her debut CD on the Somm label with the Orchestra of the Swan (OOTS) and conductor David Curtis. For her first CD venture. 27 year old Sarah has recorded the Finzi and Copland Clarinet Concertos. The latter piece has become something of a signature for Sarah: it was the work she performed in the BBC Young Musician finals with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Andrew Davis and most recently she played it with the OOTS at her Cadogan Hall debut (31 October 2009) to fantastic reviews. Though she made her name back in 2002 on TV at the BBC Young Musican of the Year, Sarah made a conscious decision to build her career gradually, studying in Paris at the Conservatoire Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Pascal Moraguès and graduating with the Premiere Prix and a Laureate , the highest honour. Since then, she has toured the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, the USA, Ireland and Spain among others with 2010 highlights including concerts in Japan and a tour with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
