Opis
DJ Set Creation Practice journal: A live music set creation notebook for diOpis:DJ Set creation and song analysis journal This book is made for DJ’s of all experience levels, looking to develop a setlist and analyse which songs do and do not mix together well. It is perfect for new music, and can be adapted to multiple genres. This book has three main sections (Repeated 8 times): Quick track analysis Best Mix Recap Set Creation How it works: 1. Quick track analysis - Used to write down the basics of new songs (including song name, artist, BPM, best mix in times, best mix out times, cue times, best tracks to mix into, and best tracks to mix out of, and extra notes. This area should be used for experimentations for new songs. You should try to mix into and out of each song with a number of options to see which tracks mix together well, and which do not. You should also make note of good times to mix in / out of (or times to avoid), and times you may like to place cues. There is room for 40 songs per quick analysis group (and 8 groups, allowing you to analyse 240 songs). Songs should stick to the same genre, or amongst genres that mix together well. If you DJ different genres, you should use a new group for each genre. 2. Best mix recap - Once you have analysed each of the 40 songs, you should use these pages to write down both the BEST track to mix from, and the best track to mix into. These do not only have to be songs from this group of 40, and you are encouraged to experiment with songs already in your library. This also contains page numbers (if the song has been analysed throughout the book) for quick access. 3. Set creation - Here you are encouraged to create sets of groups of at least 5 songs that mix together well, including the song, the song being mixed into, and the subsequent times of each song (E.g. mix out of song 1 at between 7-7.5 minutes, and into song 2 at 1.5 minutes) There are notes pages at the back for further working out and as space to further develop sets. Although a DJ set will never be set in stone and a DJ should be reactive to the crowd vibes, this book was created to help you to better learn and remember songs that do (and do not) work together well. It is crucial to understand that some songs simply do not work together well. Going into a live set prepared, and having a good idea of what works together well, will ultimately help you to become a better DJ.
