Andre Cardinal Destouches: Callirhoe (Paris, 1740)

Opis

Andre Cardinal Destouches: Callirhoe (Paris, 1740)Opis:Destouches was one of the most successful opera composers of the generation between Lully and Rameau. His music possesses a remarkable originality that already points to Rameau in the catchiness of the melodies and the boldness of his harmonies. Callirhoe is a moving musical drama in which love, jealousy, power and nobility are combined to create a gripping masterpiece. Featuring soloists Stephanie d'Oustrac, Cyril Auvity, Joao Fernandez, Ingrid Perruche and Renaud Delaigue, Herve Niquet conducts Le Concert Spirituel in this newly reissued recording, available at mid price.
